Crisis Group denies media reports about Meles Zenaw’s death

Awramba Times  (Washington DC) – The Brussels based independent organization, International Crisis Group (ICG) discloses that it has no direct knowledge about the state of health of Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi. “Crisis Group has never commented on Mr Zenawi’s health or his fate, and is not in a position to speculate about it” said the group in an email statement sent to Awramba Times. “Crisis Group categorically denies any media claims to the contrary”.
Ethiopian Satellite Television (ESAT) says it has confirmed from confidential sources at the International crisis group (ICG) and other reliable diplomatic sources that prime minister Meles Zenawi has died at the age of 57 in Brussels Belgium.

Ethiopian Satellite Television says it has confirmed from International crisis group (ICG) and other reliable diplomatic sources that prime minister Meles Zenawi has died at the age of 57 in Brussels Belgium.
Meles was born 8 May 1955 in northern Ethiopia, Adwa. He graduated from the General Wingate high school in Addis Ababa, then studied medicine at Addis Ababa University for two years before interrupting his studies in 1975 to join the Tigrean People Liberation Front (TPLF). While a member of the TPLF, he founded the Marxist-Leninist League of Tigray in 1985.
Meles has been the Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 1995. He was President of Ethiopia from 1991 to 1995. Since 1985, he has been chairman of the Tigrayan Peoples’ Liberation Front (TPLF), and he is head of the ruling Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).  Click the following link to listen ESAT’s report.
